Environmental Policy Statement
It is Company policy to take full account of the environmental implications of its operations to protect the natural environment by complying with the spirit as well as the letter of environmental legislation and approved codes of practice and by co-operating with statutory bodies. The Company will assess the likely environmental effects of planned projects and operations and aims to maintain standards of environmental protection reflecting best industry practice while fostering generally an understanding of environmental issues.
In particular the Company will:
- Adopt practices which minimise environmental hazards;
- Reduce where practicable the level of harmful emissions;
- Minimise waste in all operations and product developments;
- Include environmental issues in training programmes and encourage the implementation of sound environmental practices;
- Raise the awareness of environmental issues to ensure they are considered at the early stages of the decision making process;
- Minimise the generation of emissions and waste;
- Conduct regular environmental audits and correct any deficiencies identified;
- Require contractors and sub-contractors to operate to the same standard;
- Use Best Available Techniques (BAT) principle when considering the need to prevent, minimise or render harmless the release of pollutants to air, land or water encompassed within any prescribed process.
The Director responsible for Environmental Policy will:
- Audit the organisation, planning and achievement of environmental issues;
- Regularly review and report to all Directors, the results of this audit, with recommendations for amendments to the policy and environmental management system.
All Directors are fully accountable within their own areas of responsibility for implementing and for making the necessary arrangements within the framework of this Environmental Policy, which will be reviewed and re-issued annually.
