Sandford Bridge

Sandford Bridge spans the “Kype Water ” in Sandford Village near Strathaven in Lanarkshire.

The works involved the closure of the road to enable the breaking out of the existing concrete and tar deck. The existing steelwork was sand-blasted, metal work repairs carried out and then repainted.

A new R.C. deck was then recast, waterproofed and resurfaced. The existing wingwalls were also cleaned.

The contract value was approximately £72,000 with a duration of 8 weeks.

Several challenging weather related issues were overcome during the works including flooding, heavy rainfall, snow and high winds.

Client: South Lanarkshire Council
