Preparation of blinding for the large
concrete paving
Intermodal Project, Phase 1 Civils
£1.25M Civils Contract.
Original Tender Works Duration 17 weeks.
Following our Clients revised programme requirements, Construction Works were completed during a 12 week period, (as agreed prior to the Works commencing), a 12 week period which included the Glasgow Trades Fair Holiday Fortnight.
1200 precast concrete piles were driven and cropped down to formation level.
Excavation and disposal of 11,000m3 around precast piles, including an additional 650m3 soft and 350m3 reinforced concrete excavated volume, undertaken within the 12 week period.

Completion of the large concrete paving area
600mm diameter existing deep sewer diversion and live tie ins, increased from 130 linear metres, to 190 linear metres with additional deep M.H.s, and undertaken within the 12 week period.
All design/constructability problems resolved and overcome within the 12 week period.
Several large pumped structural concrete pours in excess of 250m3, within a total volume placed of 4,500m3, including one 640m3 air entrained concrete pour to structural paving, which established a new Scottish record for the largest quantity supplied from one plant in one single pour - concrete supplied by Bardon Concrete (now trading as Aggregate Industries).
The use of steel formwork systems made up in large segments, and lifted into position, contributed great time savings to the programme for

- 7500 tonnes of imported fill placed.
- 450tonnes of steel reinforcement placed by our steelfixers, including 80tonnes steel Bamtec Carpet.
- 5000 tonnes of railway ballast imported and placed.
- 1000 metres of drainage lines laid, and M.H.s constructed.
- 600 metres of cable ducting laid, and duct chambers constructed.
