New Networking Opportunity in University

20 March 2015

A distinctly chilly February seemed like a rather apt time to be starting work on the new CHP and District heating network within Glasgow University. Over the next 36 weeks we will be working with main contractor Crown House Technologies to excavate over 4km of trenches for the heating pipes connecting the many plant rooms across the campus.

This interesting and logistically challenging project will also see us carrying out reinstatement works on a wide variety of surfaces including asphalt, Caithness stone flags, granite setts /cobbles and grass.  Uncharted Historic underground services are a potential serious risk across the campus and our operations teams are carrying out CAT scans to identify where cables are running prior to all excavations.

Ensuring the Safety of the University students and staff will be paramount during the project and careful consideration will be given to planning the phasing of the works to ensure safety but also where possible to minimise the disruption to the university operations.
