Luddon Offers Ongoing Support to Apprentices

02 September 2016

Ryan Smith had successfully completed his first year civil engineering apprenticeship, but when his previous employer went into liquidation recently, Ryan was left in a difficult and uncertain situation, all out with his own control.

Ryan’s circumstance came to the attention of Andy McEwan, Luddon Petrochem Division General Manager, who acted quickly to meet with Ryan and to then offer him a position within our Petrochemical Division in Grangemouth.

Andy advised “Having met with Ryan and listened to his story, it was clear from the outset that he had been very unfortunate, and so we were delighted to be able to offer Ryan an opportunity to continue his civil engineering apprenticeship with Luddon. The experience now available to Ryan working within our diverse Grangemouth Petrochem environment will be ideal for his civil engineering progression. The fact that Ryan lives locally to Grangemouth was a positive factor, and demonstrates again our continued support to the local community here in Grangemouth and the surrounding areas”.

This shows our ongoing commitment to providing apprenticeships in the industry as Ryan will be joining a team of 10 apprentices already employed by Luddon.

We wish Ryan and all our other apprentices well in their roles at Luddon Construction.
