Project Description:

Design and build of a new Rail freight depot hardstanding for Highland Spring

Works Included:

Site clearance;

  • The removal of asbestos containing materials (ACMs) from the existing derelict building and demolition of the building
  • Channel re-sectioning of the adjacent Allan Water
  • Earthworks for the site, including ground improvement works 
  • Construction of acoustic barrier fencing running along the southern boundary of the site 
  • Construction of a two-way access road, including waiting areas and turning circles 
  • Construction of mass concrete running slabs to facilitate movement of gantry crane, including piled foundations and pile cap to be contractor design element
  • Construction of a lay-down area adjacent to the proposed sidings 
  • Construction of a concrete slab to locate a prefabricated office and welfare unit
  • Application of Hardipave (grouted macadam) throughout all blacktop surface areas
  • Access junction and associated footway/drainage works for connection to the existing B8081 road which runs through Blackford town 
  • Drainage works including diversion of a small diameter foul sewer rising main
  • Installation of all electrical and telecoms infrastructure required for the operation of the site, including a 11kV transformer
