Project Description:

Constructing a new extension (civils and building) within a pharmaceutical manufacturing plant in Irvine. In addition to the main extension, 7 new separate structures and concrete bunded areas were required to be constructed throughout the site

Works Included:

  • The external scope of works spans from heavy civil’s including; large scale muck shifts, piling, deep drainage in running sands, onto concrete frames, steel structures, external cladding and roofing
  • The externals were completed with various external concrete hardstandings and installations of Armco barriers, bollards, fencing and street furniture. A heavy duty asphalt road for tanker deliveries was required to be built through the middle of the project
  • Internally we carried out the blockwork, internal cladding, doors (including rapid rise curtains and fire shutters), windows, ceilings and Ucrete flooring through to clean room and cold store installation
  • The majority of these construction zones are in close vicinity to highly volatile vessels containing harmful toxic solvents and work faces tie into super clean environments. Luddon took cognisance of the clients various delivery vehicles and solvent tankers ensuring that their schedules and movements were unaffected by our works
  • Whilst working within this challenging pharmaceutical environment we are managing over 20 individual sub-contractors covering a multiple of trades
  • To mitigate safety risks and client product contamination we adopted alternative construction methods and practices from those typically utilised on construction sites
