Project Description:

Upgrade of existing surfaced towpath with new granite setts, granite kerbs, drainage, ducting, lighting and graffiti removal works

Works Included:

  • Fully close off the existing towpath both to the East and West of the proposed site and provide a diversion around the works for public use
  • Removal of existing vegetation from the stone copes
  • Removal of barrier gates and speed humps
  • Scarify/break out the existing surfacing to allow new towpath construction
  • Reduce side walls of redundant canal abstraction point and fill the existing void with concrete
  • Install three 100mm, flexible ducts, with draw cords in canal bank soft verge along with 3 chambers (500 x 500mm square and 500mm deep), connected to the ducting, to allow access for future cabling
  • Supply and install new water supply pipework (32mm diameter barrier pipe with 20mm barrier pipe branch) connections to proposed location of new service bollards
  • Supply and lay new granite kerbs to towpath edge
  • Supply and lay new granite delineation kerb to back edge of towpath
  • Supply and lay new dark grey granite setts, setts laid on 30mm mortar with 150mm type 1 sub-base 
  • Install metal pin mooring rings
  • Install new solar LED  lights and recessed uplighters along towpath
  • Graffiti removal from Viewforth Bridge walls and abutment
