Project Description:

Advance earthworks at Windmillcroft Quay due to damage to Quay Wall

Works Included:

  • The works were located adjacent to the River Clyde in Glasgow which partially affected by tidal conditions
  • Site access was restricted and there was significant public interface
  • Further to clearance of existing trees and shrubs, careful excavation had to be carried out to expose the defective quay wall. This was then carefully dismantled and the timber piles cut down
  • Safe systems of work shall be developed considering working close to water and dangerous structures
  • The dismantled masonry wall was used to form a ramp to the area
  • The excavated surface was covered with a thick membrane and topped with existing stone from the quay or imported rock armour to protect the surface from erosion from the River Clyde
  • Landscaping was carried out to tidy top of the rock armour
