COVID-19 – an update to our clients and supply chain

Site Safety Plus Remote (Online) Courses

21 May 2020

Luddon Training Centre are pleased to announce that we are now set up to deliver the Site Safety Plus suite of courses listed below, via remote delivery using Zoom:

  • Health & Safety Awareness (HSA)
  • Site Supervision Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS)
  • SSSTS Refresher course (SSSTS-R)
  • Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS)
  • SMSTS Refresher course (SMSTS-R)
  • Site Environmental Awareness Training Scheme (SEATS)

Due to the current COVID-19 social distancing restrictions, class-based training courses have been significantly reduced. It is our focus to ensure there is still training available to candidates under the current circumstances which allows us to provide an uninterrupted service during this period. The curriculum is exactly the same as the classroom course, and you will receive the same support material and qualification certificate when the end of course test has been passed. Please note that the maximum number of candidates allowed to attend each course has been reduced to 10 for remote delivery.

Attendance on training courses does not affect eligibility for furlough leave and should be encouraged to allow candidates to keep their qualifications up to date.

The pass rate of SSP courses since lockdown and the start of remote learning has remained consistent with courses delivered in the classroom. All courses and tests are monitored remotely by CITB’s Quality Assurance Team to ensure high standards are maintained.

There are numerous benefits to distance learning both during lockdown and looking to the future. It’s important to note that the SSP remote courses are tutor-led; they are effective and interactive, an online classroom environment that allows tutors to engage with delegates and discuss key topics to confirm understanding.

SSP Certificate Expiry - any delegate whose SMSTS/SSSTS achievement has expired since 15 March 2020 and who hasn’t been able to renew in time due to COVID-19, will be allowed to take the refresher rather than the full course. This amendment will remain in place until 30th September 2020. CITB will continue to review this date to ensure that delegates are not unduly disadvantaged, due to COVID-19.
