Luddon Construction are currently recruiting a suitably qualified, competent and experienced Civils Site Engineer. With civil engineering contract works throughout the East of Scotland, primarily Edinburgh and Fife, this presents an opportunity to join one of the UK’s leading multi discipline Civil Engineering and Building Contractors. Civils Quantity Surveyor (East of Scotland)

  • Compile and submit valuations to client.
  • Compile and present internal valuations reporting on profitability, forecasting and change control.

Civils Estimator (Glasgow)

HGV Mechanic (Glasgow)

Luddon Construction is a family owned construction and civil engineering company who run a fleet of excavators, tippers, vans and cars. We are currently expanding and are looking for a time fully served HGV Mechanic fitting experience.

The successful candidate will be required to:

  • Travel between sites within the local area - current driving license required. An HGV license would be preferred but not essential.
  • Experience of working on a variety of construction mobile plant equipment and also tippers, car, van etc.
  • Servicing, maintenance and repair of all vehicles, plant and specialist equipment within the depot or on site. Inspections and MOT preparations and the collection of spare parts from distributors when required.
  • Responsible for the upkeep of the vehicles including keeping the relevant statutory documentation up to date.
  • Knowledge of DVSA regulations in preparing vehicles to MOT standards would be an advantage.
  • Must be able to work as part of a team and also on your own initiative.
  • Good attention to detail required.

Cost Clerk (Glasgow)

Luddon Construction are currently seeking to recruit an enthusiastic individual to join our friendly and supporting team, working within our busy Accounts department. The role is based in our Glasgow Head Office providing support to our sites throughout the UK. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring correct allocation of site materials and hired in plant to various contracts within the region.

The Clerk will be the connecting person that links the accounts to the procurement and construction departments and will play an essential role in the correct allocation of resources to ensure efficient accounts payable procedures.

Key responsibilities:

  • Receive Goods Received Notes from site and enter against appropriate order in system
  • Manage and control ticket receipts ensuring that sites send tickets in on time
  • Liaise with Purchase Ledger department to match invoices with Goods Received Notes
  • Ensure site allocation sheets are maintained on projects and the information is up-to-date on allocation of plant, labour and materials
  • Provide information on contract costings as requested
  • File cost information and tickets etc. as required
  • Deal with general cost administration queries

Requirements:

  • Ability to use a range of IT packages including excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge and experience of Purchase Ledger/Accounting cost systems
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Team player with the ability to work well within commercial teams

Project Manager (Southern England)

Luddon Construction are currently recruiting for an enthusiastic, competent and experienced Project Manager to join our team at our Southern England Division. As a Project Manager your roles and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring that labour is on site and that works are being carried out effectively, correctly and to specification and that an accurate daily report is compiled.
  • Carry out weekly cost reconciliations of plant, labour and material to ensure projects are managed efficiently.
  • Organise transport and pick up points to meet company and client needs.
  • Carry out site visits to monitor that the Company Health, Safety and Environmental Plan is being effectively implemented.
  • Assess the scope of works prior to commencement.
  • Record any works which could be considered additional and relay the information to the Quantity Surveyor.
  • Visit clients as necessary to monitor effectiveness of existing contracts and to try to win new work.
  • Implement company policies and procedures applicable to the project works to ensure they are applied effectively.
  • To ensure personnel have the correct equipment and PPE to carry out the work.
  • To report any no shows or any disciplinary issues to the Contracts/General Manager so that an investigation of the circumstances can be carried out and any disciplinary action can be taken if necessary.
  • Represent the company at post tender, pre-start, progress and final account meetings with external individuals.
  • Represent the company at internal company meetings e.g. handover meetings and cost meetings with internal individuals.
  • Administer the contract to accommodate external statutory bodies e.g. SEPA, HSE, Local Authorities and statutory service providers.
  • To liaise with the Training Centre staff on a regular basis to ensure status of workforce competencies are up to date and plan any training/assessment requirement to achieve maximum utilisation of personnel.
  • Ensure projects are managed proactively and efficiently.
  • Interrogate designs for buildability.
  • Ensure that contractor design portions are produced and signed off prior to construction (with assistance from Contract Manager/Design Manager where required).
  • Ensure quality inspections are carried out to demonstrate compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Produce and maintain project programmes.
  • Produce progress reports and chair progress and technical meetings.
  • Scoping and procurement of work packages along with project QS.

 

Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Essential:

  • HNC/D Civil Engineering, Construction Management or other related construction qualification.
  • Previous experience as a Project Manager or related role.
  • IT literacy – Microsoft Access, Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
