Construction begins on new Bishopbriggs Crematorium

Westerleigh Group have appointed Luddon Construction to undertake the build of the new Bishopbriggs Crematorium and associated development which includes offices, landscaped garden of remembrance, car parking and new access road.

The existing site is currently vacant and is a greenfield site which sits within a relatively rural location to the north of Bishopbriggs and to the east of Low Moss Prison. The area was formerly used as a World War Two balloon barrage site.

The building itself comprises of four linked elements. The entrance, waiting room and public toilets; the main chapel building; the facility offices and the cremator room.

Externally, a new 3-arm roundabout will be constructed along with new access road, a new drainage scheme, installation of two new bus stops on the western and southern arms of the roundabout, new footways, signage and kerbing.

Luddon Construction are appointed as the main contractor on the Bishopbriggs Crematorium project, with Westerleigh Group as Client, Principal Designer and Architect, SLR Consulting as Structural and Civil Engineers, P3 Consulting as Employers Agents and Quantity Surveyors, QED Engineering as MEP Engineer, Systra as Highways Engineer and Indigo Landscape Architects.

The project commenced in January 2024 and is due for completion by winter 2024.
