Construction of New Manufacturing Facility, Gartcosh

Guala Closures has appointed Luddon Construction to deliver their new 220,000ft² manufacturing facility, with associated parking, landscaping and infrastructure.

The new facility is being built on a 16.6-acre brownfield site set within the Gartcosh Industrial Park. The works began in January 2023, with the main shell and external areas to be completed for Spring 2024.

The design team appointed to this project consists of Compass Consult as Project Manager, Convery Prenty Shields Architects, Grossart Associates as Engineers, Hawthorne Boyle as M&E Consultant and Nascent Construction Consulting as Quantity Surveyors.

The building itself will be predominantly single storey with low pitched roof and feature 2-storey corner offices which face towards the roundabout at Craignethan Drive, on the eastern side of the site.

The main single storey manufacturing facility space is configured to suit complex operational requirements and comprises a number of fire separating compartments.

The works carried out to date includes:

  • Roof nearing completion
  • Building envelope progressing to closure, with curtain walling to office progressing well
  • Block paving being laid at the main car park area to the front, with the service road to the rear being braded and prepared for external concrete hardstanding
  • Site services commenced with the installation of the fire main within the site boundary
