Helsby High School Pupils Plan for a Successful Luddon Project Outcome!

In co-ordination with the Cheshire and Warrington Growth Hub, the Luddon Northern England Team recently engaged with Year 12 pupils from the local Helsby High School to host a virtual work experience.

Pupils were split into groups and tasked with compiling a comprehensive and detailed tender submission to carry out a site enabling scope of works including the establishment of a site office area, messing facilities, perimeter fencing and traffic management route along with the removal of existing contaminated ground, all in preparation of the main construction work to commence.

The project reflects and captures some of the real challenges within the construction industry, testing the students’ abilities in planning, team-work, research, communication skills and problem solving – all vital skills within the Construction Industry!

Each Pupil Team consisted of a dedicated Project Manager, Health and Safety Advisor, Environmental Advisor, Estimator/Quantity Surveyor and a Community Liaison Manager.

Tom, Helsby High School Student noted the following about the work experience project, "I have been working with Luddon on my work experience. The task has been very well explained and the support from Luddon was amazing. We got a fast reply to any of our questions on Teams. This week has shown me career opportunities and helped me to develop new skills."

Mr. Hill, Headteacher of Helsby High School noted, " I am particularly grateful for this help which enables us to enrich our careers education at a time when it is more important than ever to prepare our young people for a difficult job market."

Pre-Construction Manager, Andy Longstaff confirmed that Luddon awarded the contract to Frodsham Civil Engineering. Well done to all involved at Helsby High School!
