Project Description:

The existing Control Room building within the BP RLPG facility no longer complies with new BP requirements with respect to the design and location of onshore facilities. Luddon Construction have been commissioned by BP to construct a new Security & Accommodation complex that brings workplace accommodation and facilities back in line with current BP requirements.

Works Included:

  • Construction of a new Field Operations Building (FOB) including a control room, messing and changing facilities and a Control of Work office. This blast resistant, steel framed building will be constructed on foundations that are formed on precast driven piles. The FOB building has been designed to conform with 400mb blast rating standards. The building will be situated above the flood plain of a 1:200 year event, with an allowance for climate change
  • A blast proof walkway will also be constructed to provide safe route of passage for all personnel in the event of an emergency to and from the accommodation area to a designated safe zone
  • Car parks providing some 60 spaces was constructed with appropriate drop off/collection areas and access/egress junctions to and from main BP routes. Designated motorcycle, bicycle and disabled parking spaces and upgraded crossing facilities will also be provided across suitable pedestrian desire lines to and from the accommodation units will also be installed
  • A modular prefabricated gatehouse building will be transported to site and lifted into position. Following on site mechanical and electrical connections and commissioning this building will be fully equipped to house BP security
  • Power to the site will be generated from a new HV substation that will comprise of two transformers units constructed on a raised pedestal platform. A segregated electrical equipment compound will also be constructed
  • A new vehicle and pedestrian sterile access zone was formed with proprietary vehicle gates and pedestrian turnstiles. Access to the sterile zone will be via either a secure Vee Gate or Sliding Gate which can be automatically controlled from the gatehouse building. All new gates and turnstiles will be operated utilising the BP access control system linked to the main FPS system
  • A palisade security fence, with emergency crash gate provisions, will be erected along the north, south and west partial boundaries of this BP asset to encompass the new facility
  • Bike sheds, smoking shelters, improved lighting and CCTV facilities was also be installed
